Refresh your skills, rekindle your enthusiasm

Whether your original medical education lacked a humanities component, or you want to refresh your perspective and your skills, you’ll find what you need at Dalhousie. As a medical or health professional, you’re welcome to take part in any of our many humanities-focused activities.

Attend a humanities-related event

Residents and fellows are welcome at any and all humanities-related events.

Complete a humanities-related elective

Residents can chose to do a humanities-related elective.  Previous examples include:

  • reflective practice through a musical lense
  • theatre as an innovative tool
  • paintings as a reflection of the patients’ illness experiences

If interested, speak with your program director about doing a humanities elective and then discuss your proposal with the Medical Humanities-HEALS director.

The Humanities-HEALS program provides sessions for the medical education resident elective course. The focus is on practical ways to include the arts and humanities into teaching.
