Medical Curriculum Renewal

Leading the way

Curriculum at Dalhousie Medical School is continually being renewed and revised to meet the changes in medicine and interprofessional practice. To determine the need for medical informatics in the curriculum, we performed an environmental scan [PDF - 127KB] for Dalhousie Medical School’s Undergraduate Medical Education office.

The scan looked at a wide range of universities, both Canadian and international, and examined their focus on medical informatics. The scan determined that, for a number of reasons, most medical schools are still only offering limited informatics training, if at all.

We used this information to put together a number of recommendations designed to help Dalhousie University maintain its place at the forefront of Canadian medical informatics education.
