Degree Assessment

GPA Calculation Options

Overall GPA calculation is most commonly determined from alpha/numerical course grades for 60 credit hours in the most senior consecutive years of the Baccalaureate degree being submitted.  It is important to note that the minimum GPA requirement must be met in each 30 credit hour year being assessed.  If the baccalaureate degree program has been completed at the time of application, the best three of four 30 credit hour years of full time study could also be considered.

Graduate degrees (Masters or PhD) are not a requirement.  For the purpose of GPA calculation, alpha-numerical course grades from Graduate Degrees are considered in combination with apha-numerical course grades from the Baccalaureate degree.

For applicants who have requested an exemption from full courseload requirement due to exceptional circumstances or curriculum design, overall GPA is determined by the alphanumerical course grades for the most recent senior level 60 credit hours.  The minimum GPA must be met in each of the two successive 30 Credit hours.

In determining your GPA, the OMSAS Undergraduate Grading System Conversion Table is used.

GPA calculations are rounded to the nearest tenth.

If your degree includes exchange courses from another university, alpha-numerical course grades MUST be provided in order to be considered in GPA assessment.  If alpha-numerical course grades for exchange courses are not provided on the official transcript, a World Evaluation Services assessment is required to be submitted by July 31.

If your degree is granted from an accredited university outside of Canada, official transcripts AND a World Evaluation Services assessment is required by July 31.
