Education in Critical Thinking

Immersing you in thought

At Dalhousie Medical School, you’ll feel the impact of our Critical Thinking program in almost every area of your education, whether you’re an undergraduate student or a resident.

We know that to develop critical thinking skills you need to understand how decisions are made. Since we normally make decisions using the dual process model—which means we use an approach that combines unconscious, automatic reaction with deliberate, conscious thought—we’ve incorporated it into the foundation of the Critical Thinking program.

Throughout medical school, you’ll also spend time examining the issues of heuristics, as well as the cognitive and affective biases that influence the decision-making process.
