Pharmacy Students

A world of opportunity in global health

As a pharmacy student, you can develop your skills in global health both in Canada and overseas. Opportunities include:

Voluntary practicum placements

International voluntary practicum placements are available in the summer in various countries. This program, organized by the GHO, allows you to learn more about global health abroad while working with a group of students in an interprofessional setting.

Planning your global health voluntary practicum placement requires a lot of preparation. Use the pre-departure planning checklist to get started.

Applying to the Global Health Office is one of your first steps.

All students participating in international voluntary practicum placements or electives must complete pre-departure training to help you prepare no matter where you're heading.

Advocates in Global Health Certificate

The Advocates in Global Health Certificate is a one-year program that encourages and recognizes your involvement in global health “outside the classroom”. The certificate includes mentorship, public engagement, leadership development, community service learning, volunteer work and enhancing skills.

Global health mini-course

Are you looking for an interprofessional mini-course? The GHO has partnered with the Faculty of Health and is offering a course for the 2017 fall term. Please register for Mini-Course O - Global Health Through an Ethical Lens today.

Student-led global health opportunities

There are also student-led global health opportunities in pharmacy. Contact the Pharmacy Global Health Committee to learn more.
