The Nova Scotia Brotherhood Initiative (NSBI) is a community based health initiative that focuses on providing cultural and gender specific care to African Nova Scotian Men. The NSBI delivers culturally relevant wellness programming, Primary Care and Chronic Disease Management, and navigation. Research has shown that black men are at higher risk for some chronic conditions, and may face barriers to accessing health care because of issues like socio-economic status, racism or under-employment.

Application deadline: Fri. Feb 5, 2016. Senior Undergraduate Students (3rd or 4th year) are invited to submit an application to participate in this international program for the summer of 2016. Please review the Internship Requirements and submit the application with the Global Health Office.

Synopsis: Fighting poverty is big business. But who profits the most? From TOMs Shoes to international adoptions, from solar panels to U.S. agricultural subsidies, POVERTY, INC. plays the gadfly in this eye­-opening examination of Western interventions in the developing world.

Undergraduates, graduate students, residents and Health Professions Faculty from across Canada are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or a poster presentation on any aspect of the humanities in the health professions.

June 9 & 10, 2016. @ 8am - 1pm. The Annual Symposium on Medical/Health Professions Education and Interprofessional Learning is a two half-days conference that presents new research that affects all areas of medical, interprofessional and health professions education. As an attendee, you’ll join other professionals with a common interest in medical and health professions education. It’s not only a perfect opportunity to meet and share information with faculty, preceptors, residents and students in the medical, dental and health professions community, it’s also a chance to mingle with other members of the greater Dalhousie community.
