Connecting doctors to residencies in the Maritimes
The Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) office provides administrative and educational support to residents in family medicine and over 50 Royal College specialty and subspecialty residency programs, located in over 100 sites across the Maritimes.
Our office oversees the processes that ensure Dalhousie University residency programs meet the required standards of accreditation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Services for residents and residency programs
Our role is one of coordination between residents, our teaching hospitals, our programs and their graduates, and Dalhousie. From admission to graduation and on into practice, we're an integral part of ensuring the complex nature of postgraduate training is well-maintained at both the resident and program level.
For practising physicians, the PGME office provides verification of training letters for those applying for licensure or hospital privileges. We can also provide letters of reference and other forms of documentation required by regulatory authorities or health care institutions.
