About

Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) provides care to 28,000 patients each year at the IWK Health Centre, which serves as the only pediatric emergency department in the Maritime provinces.

Our physicians have clinical expertise in managing a broad range of conditions, from the neonatal period through to the teenage years. Many of our doctors have subspecialty training in pediatric emergency medicine, enabling us to provide expert care to children and youth.

Simulation training

We have an active pediatric emergency simulation program. Our physicians are leaders in simulation training and contribute to learning at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education levels.
