Forgiving Rotations Policy
The Red Book (Standard for Accreditation of Family Medicine Programs) allows a program to forgive up to four weeks of the program for residents who have had to take a leave for any reason.
In order to be forgiven two to four weeks of the residency the following criteria must be met:
- The resident must have completed all core rotations
- The resident must have overall an above average performance in the residency
- The request must be made in writing to the Site Director and presented at the resident request meeting
Residents should refer to the PGME policy called “Guidelines for Considering a Waiver of Training Requirements Following a Leave of Absence”
