Time Off for Exam Preparation Policy

Time off for the LMCC Examination

Full Day Travel Allowance (applicable to Cape Breton, Fredericton, and Saint John sites):
Residents are released from both call and clinical duties at 6:00 pm on Thursday until 8:00 am on Tuesday for those who require one full day for travel to and from Halifax for the LMCC exam.

Half Day Travel Allowance (applicable to Annapolis Valley, Moncton, Prince Edward Island, and South West Nova sites):
Residents are released from both call and clinical duties at 12:00 pm on Friday until 1:00 pm on Monday for those who require only a half day for travel to and from Halifax for the LMCC exam. Arrangements to take such time off, are to be made in consultation with the site director of the resident’s own site. Residents who are unable to sit the exam in Halifax, or require alternative arrangements for travel time will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the local site director.
If time off for travel is not required, release from call duty is at 12:00 pm on the Friday before the exam. Release from clinical duty is at 6:00 pm on Friday before the exam until 8:00 am on Monday.

Time off for the CFPC Examination

Residents are to be released at 8:00 am on the Friday one week prior to the weekend of the exam, and expected to return to service by 8:00 am Monday morning following the exam for residents in the same city and 8:00 am Tuesday morning following the exam for residents who do their oral exams on Sunday and have to travel.
