Biography

Dr. Louise Parker is a professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, Endowed Chair in Population Cancer Research at Dalhousie University, and director of cancer research for Cancer Care Nova Scotia. Dr. Parker is also a Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute senior scientist.

Research interests

Dr. Parker’s research expertise is in the environmental and lifestyle factors that contribute to cancer risk, with particular interests in radiation, chemical exposure and obesity. She heads the $7 million Atlantic Partnership for Tomorrow’s Health (PATH) study, which is a long-term population health study of the genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors behind the region’s high cancer rates.
