Canadian Blood Services
Our valued partners
The Dalhousie Transfusion Pathology Residency Training Program is a collaborative effort between Dalhousie University and Canadian Blood Services (CBS).
With required rotations at the CBS head office and a local branch, you’ll have the opportunity to work with donor samples from all four Atlantic provinces. The rotation at the head office will help you learn how to manage a national blood system, and your rotation in a local CBS branch will give you experience with:
- whole blood collection
- apheresis plasma and platelet collections
- autologous and directed donation programs
Funding for transfusion pathology residents is partially provided by CBS. CBS commits annual funding so that two or three residents can enroll in a two-year residency training program within any of the five accredited Canadian programs that have been approved for full or partial Royal College accreditation.
Please note: Although funding is provided by CBS, as a resident, your contract is with PARI-MP, therefore you must abide by all Dalhousie and PARI-MP rules and regulations.
