Dr. Kate McFadden named UGME Human Development Unit Head
The Department of Pathology and the Faculty of Medicine's Undergraduate Medical Education are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kate McFadden has assumed the role of Human Development Unit Head.
" I am very excited to assume the role of Head of the Human Development Unit," McFadden says. "As a neuropathologist and pediatric pathologist, I have long been passionate about human development and its central role in understanding disease across the lifespan".
Dr. McFadden is a pediatric pathologist and neuropathologist with extensive expertise in human development across the fetal, postnatal, and pediatric lifespan.
Dr. McFadden's clinical and scholarly interests include brain development and malformations, pediatric brain tumors, neuropsychiatric disorders, congenital anomalies, skeletal biology, and the history of medicine. She brings strong methodological expertise in histologic and digital microscopy, tissue banking, and advanced imaging techniques.
In her upcoming role as Human Development Unit Head, Dr. McFadden will provide academic leadership for the integration of developmental content within the undergraduate medical curriculum, supporting a strong foundation in human structure, function, and disease for early medical learners.
Dr. McFadden is not only immeniently qualified for the role, but her excitement for the journey ahead cannot be contained. "I am especially looking forward to contributing to medical student education and collaborating with colleagues at multiple campuses to foster a supportive, curious, and clinically meaningful learning environment."
