Graduate Student Peer Support Network
A peer mentor serves as a resource—a helping hand, a sounding board, a referral service—providing both personal and professional support for students in any of the Faculty of Medicine graduate programs.
Peer mentorship has been found to enhance student wellbeing in relation to academic, psychosocial, and career outcomes; additionally, peer mentorship can help strengthen a culture of genuine community and mutual support.
Although peer mentors are not qualified to resolve psychological crises, disputes with advisors, and other personal or degree-related issues, they are equipped with training to manage these situations and are familiar with the people and services available to students who face these issues.
If you are in crisis, please call either 911 or the Mobile Mental Health Crisis Team at 902-429-8167 or 1-888-429-8167.
