Family-centred pediatric surgery

Pediatric General & Thoracic Surgery is a division of the Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University and Department of Surgery at the IWK Health Centre, the only pediatric tertiary referral centre in the Maritimes.

Our faculty members are devoted to an academic practice encompassing all aspects of pediatric general surgery, including:

• neonatal surgery
• pediatric surgical oncology
• minimally invasive surgery
• pediatric colorectal/IBD surgery
• pediatric non-cardiac thoracic surgery
• pediatric trauma care
• pediatric urology

We are committed to family-centred care in an environment that fosters clinical research and medical education. We offer advanced pediatric surgery training through a two-year fellowship accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and participate in the North American Pediatric Surgery match through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
