Dr. Power attended medical school at Dalhousie University followed by a general surgery residency at McMaster University. During residency, he completed a Master’s in Bio-Science Enterprise (MBE), a multidisciplinary biotechnology and business degree program, at the University of Cambridge. After finishing his residency, he completed a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Mayo Clinic before working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Western University from 2012-2025.
At Western University, Dr. Power was Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Residency Program from 2013-2021 after which he was the McLachlan Chair of Postgraduate Education from 2020-2022. Dr. Power has established himself as a Canadian expert in complex venous diseases and has multiple industry grants, publications, presentations and book chapters. Dr. Power's research interests include innovation and medical device development. He is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Front Line Medical Technologies, a company that specializes in helping critical patients survive with innovative medical devices.
