Understanding pain
As our population ages, pain treatment is becoming more critical than ever. In fact, by 2025, the direct Canadian healthcare costs resulting from chronic pain is projected to be over $10 million. And that number doesn’t even take costs related to disability and lost productivity into account. Yet, pain is rarely investigated at a national level.
We aim to fill that gap. In the Dalhousie Pain Network, we focus our research on four key demographics. They are:
- women
- children
- aboriginal peoples
- adults
