Research Interests

Dr. Mir’s research interests focus on improving outcomes in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery and abdominal organ transplantation through surgical innovation, technology, and outcomes-based research. His work explores the development, evaluation, and implementation of minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, including the use of surgical data and objective performance metrics to improve procedural quality, training, and patient outcomes. Additional interests include the multidisciplinary management of liver and pancreatic malignancies, optimization of organ utilization and preservation through novel perfusion technologies, and improving access to and outcomes following liver and kidney transplantation. His research incorporates clinical outcomes, health services, and translational approaches with the goal of translating technological and procedural innovation into improved patient care.
