What we offer

Electron microscopes produce high resolution details by using electrons instead of light to capture images. The increased resolution allows a functional magnification of up to 1,000,000× for the observation of fine structure and detail.

The Electron Microscopy (EM) Core Facility provides Services & Equipment and technical services for common EM research applications:

• Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
• Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) 

With over 30 years of experience, we offer technical consultation and support, from sample preparation to image acquisition and analysis.  Users from the Dalhousie community also have the option to receive training for independent use of the instruments.
