Faculty of Medicine Zebrafish CORE Facility
The Zebrafish Core Facility provides researchers within and outside of Atlantic Canada access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for studying vertebrate development biology and developing zebrafish models of disease. In combination with the other CORES facilities, such as our Imaging Facility, Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Facility, and Flow Cytometry Facility, it is a key centre for utilizing zebrafish as model organisms. The facility consists of:
- Thirty racks on two advanced recirculating water systems
- CFIA Import Quarantine
- In-House Quarantine Unit
- Behavioral Analysis Equipment
- Microinjection Suite
- Fluorescence Microscopy Suite

Funding for the zebrafish facility came from Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University, IWK Health Centre, the Centre for Drug Reserach and Development (CDRD) and Irving Shipbuilding.
