Use of Cannabinoids to Reduce Joint Nerve Damage and Prevent Osteoarthritis Pain

PI: Jason J. McDougall

We have recently discovered that the peripheral nervous system becomes damaged during osteoarthritis, which can lead to a distinct type of pain called neuropathic pain. We are testing to see if cannabinoids can reverse this neuropathology to help uncover a whole new therapeutic approach to controlling osteoarthritis pain.
