The third annual Dr. Fred Barton Visiting Scholar and Lecture in Medicine session is coming up.
The public lecture will be held on November 1, 2025, at 2pm at the Westin Hotel. She will be speaking on the topic of medical distrust: "Doctors' Orders? The challenge of mistrust in medicine, and how to collaborate in your healthcare." There is a PDF poster available here.
Our speaker this year is Dr. Andrea Frolic.
She is the Director of the Program for Ethics and Care Ecologies (PEaCE) at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University.

The second annual Dr. Fred Barton Visiting Scholar and Lecture in Medicine session was held on November 1 and 2, 2024.

Our speaker this year was Dr. Melissa McCradden.
For the public lecture, she spoke on "So your doctor is using Artificial Intelligence, what now? Key Questions for Patients and Caregivers Navigating the New Era of AI-enabled Health Care."
The CPDME session was "Clinicians, computers, and ChatGPT? Satisfying ethical and professional standards when using Artificial Intelligence tools for clinical care and healthcare administration." This lecture was followed by a lively panel discussion and Q&A.

With a keen interest in medical ethics and a wish to honour his late father, Dr. Fred Barton, he proposed that Dalhousie University offer an annual educational event in the field of Bioethics.
