Chair’s Message
A committed department
Dalhousie’s Department of Pediatrics is made up of an outstanding group of pediatricians, scientists and staff members. We share a commitment to improving infant, child and adolescent health through safe, quality patient care, advocacy, education, research and leadership. We care about the well-being of our staff and learners.
We consider ourselves members of a dedicated family of Atlantic Provincial healthcare providers and advocates, all committed to better futures for all children and youth. We are aware of the importance of the social determinants of health, how they are tied to the future well-being of individuals and society, and the importance of working with allied partners and governments to address the needs of vulnerable populations.
The department is primarily sited at the IWK Health Centre and is comprised of 16 divisions & 2 clinical services, with over 80 faculty members. We have a vibrant, productive research program. As members of the department, our community pediatricians play important roles in clinical teaching of both medical students and residents. We have an excellent general pediatric residency program and seven accredited subspecialty residency programs.
Please contact me if you have questions, concerns or need more information.
Sincerely,
