Clinical Profile

Dr. Shoman is a fellowship trained specialist in Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery. His clinical interests include pediatric and adult complex ear surgery, hearing loss, balance disorders, cochlear implants and other implantable auditory devices, facial nerve paralysis, and skull base surgery. He is a member of the Halifax Cochlear Implant Program and the Maritime Lateral Skull Base Clinic.

Research Interests

Dr. Shoman's research interests include middle ear physiology and hearing rehabilitation, innovative management of chronic ear disease, cochlear implants and other implantable auditory devices, facial nerve paralysis, and skull base surgery. He is a member of the Halifax Cochlear Implant Program and the Maritime Lateral Skull Base Clinic.

Education Interests

 

Dr. Shoman has a strong interest in all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He is a co-supervisor of the Dalhousie Advanced Otology-Neurotology Fellowship. He is currently the Dalhousie Otolaryngology Undergraduate Director and a member of the Dalhousie Surgery Undergraduate Education Committee (SUEC). He is the recipient of the 2020 Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Staff Teaching Award.
