Innovative research driven by patient needs

The Dalhousie University Division of Otolaryngology─Head and Neck Surgery conducts pioneering basic, translational, clinical and epidemiological research in all major subspecialty areas of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery.

Our clinical and research faculty are particularly involved in oncology and molecular biology, microvascular reconstructive surgery, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, middle ear mechanics, vestibular and cochlear disorders, basic mechanisms of hearing, tissue engineering, clinical epidemiology, decision conflict analysis, pediatric airway, and craniofacial reconstruction.

Driven by the needs of our patients, researchers are working on innovative projects designed to provide insight into head and neck conditions and improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for adult and pediatric otolaryngology patients.
