Facilities & Equipment
Plenty of practice
Dalhousie’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is spread across a campus in Halifax and one in Saint John. As a Halifax resident or faculty member, you’ll mainly work out of the Halifax Infirmary and the IWK Health Centre (Halifax’s hospital for women and children). If you’re in Saint John, you’ll spend most of your time in the plastic surgery unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Skills training
When you’re not working in a clinic or an operating room, you’ll be participating in hands-on skills labs in the Skills Centre for Health Sciences. This gives you the opportunity to learn and practice in a safe, state-of-the-art simulated healthcare environment with:
- virtual operating rooms
- intervention simulators
- dry and wet labs
- a simulation lab
- a decontamination washer room
- an ophthalmology simulation suite
- a video/teleconferencing theatre and lecture room
- administrative and reception facilities
