Application Process
Making a difference
Choosing a university for your residency is an important decision. If you decide that the Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Program at Dalhousie University is right for you, you’ll need to start by applying through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS).
Please note: you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada to go through this process. If you aren't, please follow the process for international medical graduates (IMG).
What you’ll need
If you’ve already earned your medical degree, you’re eligible to apply for our plastic surgery residency. Our residents are selected after a careful review of their:
- academic records
- electives
- reference letters
- CV
Successful applicants will have a demonstrated interest in plastic surgery and at least one reference from a plastic surgeon. If you’re thinking of applying, we highly recommend completing at least one of your medical school rotations within the Dalhousie Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program.
