Dr. Paterson spent over a decade in Ottawa from medical school through to the end of fellowship. There he completed his urology residency and two-year fellowship specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, renal transplant and complex stone disease. He concurrently achieved his masters through the University of Toronto's Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. During that time, he worked closely with Health Canada's Organ Donation and Transplant Collaborative to improve the efficiency of provincial living donation models.
His clinical interests include open, laparoscopic and robotic renal and adrenal surgery as well as endoscopic and percutaneous stone surgery. His academic interests include quality improvement, medical education and initiatives to expand access to living and deceased organ donation.
