Taking care of our community
Dalhousie's Department of Urology has a proud heritage of excellence and innovation in patient care. We're a distinct department at Dalhousie Medical School and currently have a complement of 11 urology faculty members. The Department of Urology has wide expertise in many subspecialties, including:
- prostate cancer and genitourinary oncology
- kidney stones
- erectile dysfunction
- male infertility and andrology
- functional urology
- pediatric urology
- renal transplantation
- robotic surgery
Not only does our residency program provide rigorous clinical training to the next generation of urologists, we also offer undergraduate medical electives and a highly-rated clinical clerkship program for third-year medical students. Our research program boasts numerous pioneering clinical trials and patient studies.
We care for our community by offering clinical practice through the Nova Scotia Health (NSH) web sites, which include:
- Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre
- Dartmouth General Hospital
- Cobequid Community Health Centre
- Hants Community Hospital
We also work closely with the IWK Health Centre, Saint John Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
