Dr. Duplisea grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. He completed medical school in Newfoundland at Memorial University. He completed residency at Dalhousie University. Following this, he completed a Society of Urologic Oncology accredited fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He joined the Department of Urology in 2019.
