Assessment & Evaluation in LIC

Assessments for LIC will be completed through One45. One45 is a web-based educational management platform widely used to support key activities for undergraduate and postgraduate learners at Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine. The platform handles everything from scheduling rotations and managing curriculum mapping to facilitating competency-based assessments such as EPAs; learners, residents, faculty, and administrators collaboratively use it to trigger evaluations, track progression, and support accreditation processes.

LIC Assessment forms will include:

Daily Feedback Forms are brief assessment forms completed each day or after a clinical learning session by the supervising physician or preceptor. Their purpose is to provide students with regular formative feedback on their clinical performance.

In-Training Evaluation Report (ITERS) are completed at the end of each clinical learning experience. After each ITER, the preceptor must meet with the learner to provide detailed feedback in connection with the ITER. Preceptors will complete formative ITERS throughout and a summative ITER at the end of unit. ITERS will be completed through One45.

Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) capture a learner’s ability to perform key clinical tasks with increasing independence over time. Preceptors provide regular narrative feedback to learners that are aligned with the EPA competencies through frequent, low-stakes assessments that build towards independence.
