International Visiting Electives
Come to Canada for an elective
As an undergraduate medical student studying outside of Canada, you can do a clinical elective in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or New Brunswick through Dalhousie Medical School.
You must submit your application through Dalhousie University to be approved to complete your elective in the Maritime provinces. For further information on the application process and requirements of the program, please visit the Undergraduate Medical Education office, or email intl.electives@dal.ca.
Application deadlines
Applications must be received four months before the start date of the proposed elective, but not more than nine months before the start date. Submitting an elective application does not guarantee a placement.
We don't accept requests for core rotations or observerships. We also don't accept request from students who are currently completing their internship.
