Educational & Training Resources
The Medical Education Teaching and Research Office (METRO) oversees cross-disciplinary Education and Training across all postgraduate programs. It provides leadership in the development, delivery, and evaluation of educational initiatives for residents, faculty, program directors, and administrators. In addition, METRO supports and promotes original research and scholarly activities in postgraduate medical education.
The METRO consists of:
Dr. David Bowes - Assistant Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education: Dr. Bowes serves as Director of the Medical Education Teaching and Research Office (METRO), ensuring programs meet resident and program needs through ongoing development, evaluation, and revision, while also supporting faculty development and engaging in educational scholarship. His role also includes oversight of accreditation.
Dr. Cindy Shearer, Evaluation Specialist and Manager: As an Evaluation Specialist, Cindy conducts program evaluation and research activities for PGME, collecting and analyzing data to inform planning, policy, and curriculum development. She leads the continuous quality improvement of METRO programming.
Jenny Acuna- Curriculum Specialist: Jenny develops, implements, and updates cross-disciplinary PGME educational programs, creating high-quality content and providing expertise in instructional design, online course development, and innovative teaching strategies to ensure materials are engaging, relevant, and aligned with best practices in medical education.
