Reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease

The Division of Cardiology in the Dalhousie Department of Medicine has a proud history of providing multidisciplinary care, meaningful learning opportunities and leading research. We work in partnership with the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the Maritime Heart Centre and other clinical departments at Dalhousie Medical School.

Our division includes 31 faculty members who are leaders in their field, and are active in reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease on Atlantic Canadians through prevention, treatment and rehabilitation based on the latest research and innovation.

Division of Cardiology mandate

  • provide clinical care (primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary)
  • teach medical students, residents and health professionals
  • conduct leading research
  • provide leadership in cardiovascular health promotion, disease prevention, advocacy and rehabilitation
