Division Head Message
Progressive, collaborative, committed and responsive
If I was to describe the Division of Cardiology in just four words, I would propose: progressive, collaborative, committed and responsive.
Division members provide exemplary care to adults in Halifax and across the Maritime provinces and are accomplished Dalhousie University faculty members. As such, they educate and mentor medical students and residents and conduct leading research.
Atlantic Canadians have disproportionately high incidence and prevalence of cardiovascular disease. The resulting clinical demands necessitate patient care based on the latest research and evidence, creative thinking, flexibility and a willingness to do things differently.
These are hallmarks of the Division of Cardiology. The result is excellent patient care and meaningful learning experiences for residents, students, fellows and practicing physicians.
That isn’t the full picture, though. The Division of Cardiology also works closely with government, health charities and health advocacy groups to develop policy and produce and implement prevention strategies to help individuals stay healthy. Our hope is that by doing so, fewer and fewer people will need the excellent patient care we provide.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ata-Ur-Rehman Quraishi
Division head / service chief, Division of Cardiology
