Patient Care
GIM consulting and ambulatory care services
The Division of General Internal Medicine offers specialized acute internal medicine care through various ambulatory clinics, including disease-specific clinics for hypertension, heart failure, vascular and allergy/immunology.
Staff physicians provide attending service in two medical teaching units and the affiliated intermediate care unit, and also provide in-house consultative service to the QEII Health Sciences Centre Emergency Department.
Broad range of clinical interests
Special clinical interests within the division include frailty and end of life care, as well as quality and patient safety. Our members are actively engaged in the development of optimal care models for frail patients, initiatives focusing on appropriateness of care and simulation training to enhance the ability of GIM residents to deal with medical emergencies.
