Division Head Message
Passionate clinicians, educators and researchers
Within our division, you will find passionate clinicians, educators and researchers dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and study of infectious diseases. We provide patient care based on the latest research and best practices, and, in so doing, educate and train residents and medical students in the fascinating field of infectious diseases.
All of the infectious diseases subspecialists and consultants in our division hold academic appointments at Dalhousie University and are involved in clinical and basic infectious diseases research. Many also serve as patient advocates and policy advisors, participating on governmental and specialty advisory committees.
We believe in advancing knowledge of infectious diseases through medical, continuing and public education. Each of our division members is an enthusiastic teacher, mentor and collaborator, and, as a group, we have earned teaching awards in all areas of education.
Medical students and residents, whether rotating through our division or enrolled in our subspecialty residency training program, are treated as part of our team. Our trainees see patients on their own, consulting with attending division members on their care and treatment plans. We are able to support residents and students in their infectious diseases research projects, which have been presented at local, national and international research meetings.
I encourage you to learn more about infectious diseases and what our division offers.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shelly McNeil
Division head / service chief, Division of Infectious Diseases
