Learning in a variety of settings as part of a multidisciplinary team

The Division of Palliative Medicine has a strong commitment to teaching medical students and residents and delivering continuing medical education for physicians and allied health professionals.

As a medical student, resident or practising physician, you will be exposed to the broad spectrum of palliative medicine in hospital, home and community settings. You will be part of our close-knit, multidisciplinary palliative care team.

Palliative medicine is integrated throughout the Dalhousie MD curriculum, including in the case-based Integration Unit, and our division offers a one-year postgraduate program of Added Competence in Palliative Medicine which is jointly accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

Our continuing medical education efforts include local in-hospital and community-based workshops and seminars along with national and international presentations.
