We want you to be successful. Before you apply for one of our graduate programs, make sure that you have the foundation you need to make the most of your experience.

Requirements

Master’s Program:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours degree or equivalent
  • A minimum 3.7 GPA (or A- equivalent) over the last 60 credit hours of study, or extensive previous research experience

PhD Program:

  • An MSc degree in Physiology or a related field from a university of recognized standing
  • A minimum 3.7 GPA (or A- equivalent) over the last 60 credit hours of study, or extensive previous research experience

English Language Proficiency:

All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate their capacity to pursue a graduate-level program in English before admission by taking a language competency test (this may be waived if the applicant has completed a degree at a recognized university where the language of instruction is English).

Test Name and Minimum Acceptable Score:

  • Internet-based TOEFL (Academic iBT) - 100
  • MELAB - 85    
  • IELTS - 7.5
  • CanTest - 4.5 (with no band score lower than 4.0)
  • CAEL - 70 with no band score lower than 60
  • Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE) - A
  • Pearson English Test PTE Academic - overall score of 65 and nothing below 54

Test scores are valid for two years from the date the test was written.
