Making new discoveries
At the Centre for Emotions and Health, we place a strong emphasis on researching the emotional effects of traumatized or interrupted human attachments (long-term interpersonal relationships, like between a parent and child, or between spouses), and on finding new ways to effectively treat the resulting symptoms.
We treat these symptoms using a brief form of psychotherapy called Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). Using ISTDP, we’re able to view psychological disorders through the lens of attachment.
Dalhousie University, the Department of Health and Wellness, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority support our research.
