Experts who care

The Centre for Emotions and Health is home to a variety of experts who are experienced and trained in Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) treatment. Together, they form a multi-disciplinary team that’s ideal for providing education and treatment for those experiencing emotional blockages.

Our team

Dr. Allan Abbass: Dr. Abbass is the program coordinator for the Centre for Emotions and Health and a professor in Dalhousie University’s Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology. He has been training in, practising, teaching and researching brief psychotherapies since 1990.
Dr. Joel Town: Dr. Town is an assistant professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at Dalhousie University, and a lead researcher and administrator of the Centre for Emotions and Health. He is also involved with the collaboration between the Centre for Emotions and Health and Dalhousie’s Department of Emergency Medicine.
Richard Zehr: Richard is a clinical psychologist with the Centre for Emotions and Health and the Integrated Chronic Care Service in Fall River. He’s also a lecturer in Dalhousie’s Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Angela Cooper: Dr. Cooper is a psychologist and therapist involved with the collaboration between the Centre for Emotions and Health and Dalhousie’s Department of Family Medicine.
