DIVISION OF CARDIAC SURGERY
Providing the highest quality surgeries for our patients
The surgeons in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Dalhousie University practice within the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and Horizon Health in St. John for adult cardiac surgery, as well as the IWK Hospital for pediatric cardiac surgery. Our surgeons are dedicated to providing the highest quality and most innovative surgeries for our patients. The surgeons at our institutions work closely with cardiologists, interventional radiologists and other members of the Heart Health Program to provide care for our patients that is safe, effective and compassionate. The division is committed to continuous quality improvement and participates in a national outcomes database.
Fellowship training

Our Division, in cooperation with Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health Authority, provides a fellowship training program for specialist physicians looking to develop and enhance their skillset in cardiac surgery.
Surgical resident program

The residency program offers significant exposure to clinical patient care, as well as ample direct training with the surgical team.
