Fellowship
Fellowship with the Division of Cardiac Surgery
The Division of Cardiac Surgery, in cooperation with Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health Authority, provides a fellowship training program for specialist physicians looking to develop and enhance their skillset in cardiac surgery.
The program provides training for periods of one to two years for qualified candidates from all over the world. These candidates, who have selected cardiac surgery as their specialty, apply to our program to heighten their abilities and learn the latest cutting edge surgical techniques from our renowned group of staff surgeons.
The fellowship provides experience in multiple aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery revascularization, valve replacement and repair, cardiac pacing, thoracic aortic surgery and stenting. Heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices are also a part of the fellowship experience. Fellows in this program are expected to involve themselves in divisional research activities, and to prepare presentations for research events.
Candidates are required fulfill all the requirements for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, hold all appropriate visas and be permitted to work in Canada.
