Welcome from Stephen Miller, Associate Dean Continuing Professional Development and Medical Education

As the Associate Dean, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine CPDME Unit. We are a dynamic and inclusive group that is responsive to your needs as health care professionals, educators, teachers, and leaders. The goal of our faculty and staff is to help guide you in serving your patient population, your learners, and your own learning needs. Our continuing medical education and faculty development offerings include virtual, face to face and hybrid (combination of both) meetings, conferences, and sessions in a synchronous or asynchronous manner.

Our accreditation team are here to serve your needs in certifying and accrediting excellent CME sessions. Please utilize them to their full potential to help realize your programming needs.

In our rapidly changing medical world, fueled by an ever-increasing amount of data, we are pleased to provide high quality continuing professional development by local, national and international experts. This allows us to provide high quality education to our faculty, staff, and learners across our Maritime campus. Our evaluation specialists are experts in performing needs assessments to identify the perceived and unperceived gaps in your learning. Our multimedia platforms are offered at a variety of times and locations, and many activities are archived for later viewing on our website.

We have a dynamic and talented medical education research unit that provides support for, and of, scholarly activity with a team of active researchers situated therein. Our new faculty wellness portfolio is focused on well-being for faculty which includes identifying and mitigating burnout and compassion fatigue while providing evidence and data-based supports to individuals and departments tailored to their needs. Education around leadership and promotion are also offered by CPDME, in addition to our Humanities team that provides programming at all levels of education (UGME, PGME, CPDME). Humanities offerings utilize various media to enhance creativity—writing, art creation, music, and spoken word, among others. We hope you take the time to review our refreshed website and see all that we have to offer.

Welcome to lifelong learning at the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine, where our motto at CPDME is that we learn “everywhere and all the time”!
