The Office of Resident Affairs in the Faculty of Medicine supports the health and well being of residents and advocates on their behalf. We play a multi-faceted supportive role to residents in family medicine and specialty training programs across the Maritimes.

For residents, who feel tremendous pressure to perform at the top of their game all the time, it’s extremely important to have a safe place they can come to discuss personal issues or to air professional or academic concerns.

We provide counselling on matters including: 

It is our job to provide advice to help accommodate the needs of learners with extenuating circumstances.  Our priority is to ensure postgraduate trainees are well supported and able to perform to the best of their abilities.

If we cannot help you, we will refer you to someone who can.  Resident Affairs is at “arm’s length” from the PGME office and we do not share information without your permission. Our discussions are confidential.
