South Shore Regional Hospital

Located in the Town of Bridgewater along the LaHave River and is surrounded by the coastal beaches and fishing communities of the south shore. It is the largest town in this region with a population of over 8,500. Self-titled "The Main Street of the South Shore," Bridgewater has long been established as the primary commercial and professional service centre in the southern half of the province.

  • SSRH was built in 1988
  • There is a full-time emergency department staffed 24 hours a day and supported by 22 specialists
  • –Services offered at SSRH include: obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, acute inpatient and ICU, hospitalist and patient service, chemotherapy treatment for rural access, as well as visiting disciplines including: neurology, urology, orthopedic surgery, palliative care, psychiatry, plastic surgery and ophthalmology
  • There are 79 funded beds staffed by 65 physicians many of whom are actively engaged in LICD teaching
