Program Overview

Leave a lasting legacy

The Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program is located in Halifax, but accepts donations from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. It's a great way to help health professional students build the knowledge they need in their future careers.

If you're considering donating your remains, start your decision-making process by talking with your family to make sure they'll support your decision. You and your designated next of kin will then need to complete both the Donation Form  and the Cremation Form to indicate your intention to donate.

Once the forms are completed, please return to brenda.armstrong@dal.ca or mail to:

Human Body Donation Program
Department of Medical Neuroscience

Dalhousie University
Sir Charles Tupper Building

5850 College Street

PO Box 15000
Halifax, NS B3H 4R2

When we receive the forms, an acknowledgement and wallet card will be sent to you.

Have a back-up plan

It's important to understand that although we appreciate your intention to donate, there are donations that we can't accept for a number of complex reasons. The final decision is made at the time of death. It is strongly recommend that you make alternative arrangements for burial or cremation.

Making a change

If you have already sent us your forms and you wish to make changes, please call 902-494-6850 to let us know.

Please note: Should there be a change in the next-of-kin or legal executor, a new Cremation Form [PDF - 66 KB] must be completed and forwarded to the department.
