Program Overview
Leave a lasting legacy
The Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program is located in Halifax, but accepts donations from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. It's a great way to help health professional students build the knowledge they need in their future careers.
Please note: Due to a restructuring in government programs, we are currently not able to accept donors from New Brunswick. We are working diligently with the NB government to rectify this and hope it will be resolved soon.
If you are considering donating your remains, start your decision-making process by talking with your family to make sure they'll support your decision. You and your designated next of kin will then need to complete both the Intent to Donate and Donation Information/Disposition of Remains to indicate your intention to donate.
Once the forms are completed, please return to hbp@dal.ca or mail to:

Have a back-up plan
It is important to understand that although we appreciate your intention to donate, there are donations that we cannot accept for a number of complex reasons. The final decision is made at the time of death. It is strongly recommend that you make alternative arrangements for burial or cremation.
Making a change
If you have already sent us your forms and you wish to make changes, please call 902-494-6850 to let us know.
Please note: Should there be a change in the next-of-kin or legal executor, a new Intent to Donate [PDF - 52KB] must be completed and forwarded to the department.
