Biography

Dr. Lisandra Cubero Herrera is the Scientific Officer in the Toxicology Laboratory at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Dalhousie University. Her research interests include the development of methods for drugs of abuse and therapeutic drug monitoring.

Dr. Cubero has developed and validated mass spectrometry-based methods for screening and confirmation of opioids such as fentanyl and buprenorphine, and for therapeutic monitoring of the immunosuppressive drugs tacrolimus, sirolimus and cyclosporine. The assays developed are currently being incorporated into routine patient care at the Toxicology Laboratory.

Dr. Cubero Herrera received her PhD in Chemistry from Dalhousie University in 2007. After completing her PhD, she carried out postdoctoral work in Mass Spectrometry at the Saskatchewan Disease Control Laboratory and at the National Research Council Canada in Halifax.
