As the Clinical Biochemist and Head of Chemistry at IWK Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Lori Beach provides clinical service in laboratory medicine specializing in pediatric and maternal care, including prenatal biochemical screening, newborn screening, core automated chemistry, point-of-care testing, and mass spectrometry/specialized chemistry. Nationally, she is the Division Head of Public Outreach and Communications for the Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists.

As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Dalhousie University, her academic interests include mechanisms in Using Labs Wisely, laboratory resource stewardship and quality, training and developing leaders in Clinical Biochemistry and Genetics, research in targeted metabolomics, and translating research to clinical care.
