Diploma Programs
Advanced training for residents
Diploma programs offer advanced training in areas of focused competence, or AFC programs. These programs are only open to those who have previously completed training in a base specialty and/or subspecialty, and are intended for those who want to enhance their skills or knowledge in a particular, focused area.
Diploma programs are fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Though programs usually last from 1-2 years, training is fully competency-based, with certification by means of central review of a summative portfolio.
Dalhousie currently has two diploma programs: transfusion medicine and interventional cardiology.
